2019 FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: NATE LOWE 1B TAMPA BAY RAYS

As noted earlier in the day regarding the arrival of top Tampa Bay Rays slugger Nate Lowe on Monday, the comparisons here to the New York Mets' hotshot rookie Pete Alonso are right on par.  While you can quibble and say Lowe is the better pure hitter and Alonso the better pure slugger, the fact of the matter is that both guys carry immense upside and we already are seeing the latter take off with tapeshot homers for the Mets one month into the season.  Those who missed out on Alonso shares are receiving a second chance with Lowe however and his exciting combination of patience (i.e. walks) and power/average make the new Rays first baseman one to scoop up quickly.

In terms of the numbers, Lowe certainly is ready to contribute after he batted .300 with 3 homers in 90 at-bats this season at Triple-A and this follows a 2018 campaign where he slugged a combined 27 home runs and batted .356 at A-Ball and .340 at Double-A.  Even more promising was the fact Lowe was a walks machine at all levels and since that skill often leads to helpful batting averages, the immense natural power here adds even more positives to the overall ledger on the kid.  Right now the plan is for the Rays to play Lowe daily against righties and he could sit versus lefties due to some struggles there.  While a platoon may be a bit annoying, Lowe is on the right side of it and like I said, the combination of power and average is obvious.  So while there figures to be plenty of dips and upticks along the way as there would be with any rookie, Lowe should be added in every league he is available given the immense upside.
