Just hours after announcing that All-Star slugging outfielder Giancarlo Stanton would be placed on the IL with a left biceps strain, the team went on to announce that top third base prospect Miguel Andujar would also be added to the list due to a right shoulder strain. The injuries are beyond staggering now for the Yanks who along with Stanton and Andujar are also missing setup man Dellin Betances, and starters C.C. Sabathia and Luis Severino. As far as Andujar is concerned, he injured the shoulder diving back to thirdbase on Sunday and he is still currently undergoing testing to find out the severity. In Andujar's place at third base will be free agent signee D/J. LeMahieu who now all of a sudden becomes a major person of interest in fantasy baseball terms. While LeMahieu was already hitting well this season, he was not carrying as much fantasy baseball value as he did in the past with the Colorado Rockies due to the fact he was playing a utility role with the team. This now changes with Andujar's absence and so LeMahieu should be added where available. Right now the major story is Andujar however and his length of absence will ultimately determine how much of a hurt this puts on his fantasy baseball owners. You can't make this stuff up.
