2018 FANTASY BASEBALL STATUS REPORT: MIGUEL ANDUJAR 3B NEW YORK YANKEES

When it comes to the 2018 batch of New York Yankees rookie prospects, all anyone wants to talk about is the insane performance put forth so far by shortstop Gleyber Torres.  With Torres having just recently smacked a home run in four consecutive games and having previously been considered arguably the top hitting prospect in the game not named Ronald Acuna, it would be easy to get overshadowed the way fellow rookie arrival Miguel Andujar has so far.  While Torres has been off-the-charts no matter what measurement you are using this season, Andujar has been terrific himself as he already has seemingly solidified his place as the team's third baseman both for now and well into the future.  Going into Sunday's games, Andujar was carrying around the following impressive numbers:

.294
6 HR
21 RBI
27 R
1 SB
3.2 BB/9
19.7 K/9
.338 BABIP

When looking at the overall numbers, the smooth-swinging Andujar looks advanced beyond his 23 year and he deserves extra credit for accomplishing what he has as a rookie in the caldron of New York.  While the power not been of the charts, Andujar has been a line drive machine to show that a perennial .300 average will likely always be a part of the equation.  And regarding the power, figure on that skill beginning to show up more earnestly as he continues to fill out his frame.  While Andujar has been completely allergic to walks which is something he definitely needs to get to work on, his K/9 rate is solid and he will likely only go lower as he gains more MLB experience.  Add in the advantages of playing half his games at Yankee Stadium and the outlook is very bright here.  Those in dynasty leagues should be holding tight to Andujar and even the rest of this season he figures to be a nice daily contributor to his fantasy baseball owners.
