The New York Yankees placed starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery on the 10-day DL on Wednesday as expected after he left his Tuesday start versus the Houston Astros after just one inning with what the team is calling tightness in his elbow. The Yankees have not given much of an update yet outside of the DL placement but they did say he was heading for more testing in New York later in the day. Extra testing is almost always a very bad sign as it could indicate something was found on the initial exam and a follow up was ordered to confirm things. So we could be looking at another Tommy John case here and that would make a bit of sense since Montgomery is another classic case given his youth and ability to ramp up the fastball. Stay tuned here but those who own Montgomery are not likely to get some good news here with this.
