Already having lost Kendrys Morales to the DL and with Randal Grichuk unable to hit the broad side of the barn, the Toronto Blue Jays decided to call up outfielder prospect Teoscar Hernandez on Friday. The 25-year old slugger was batting .278 with 2 home runs at Triple-A prior to promotion and he also opened some eyes in the organization when he came up late in 2017 and cracked 8 home runs in 95 at-bats. In terms of what we could expect here at least in the short-term, power is the name of the game here as Hernandez has plenty of it and that skill should play nicely in Rogers Center as well. Strikeouts are also a big issue here and so Hernandez looks like your classic above-average home run but shaky batting average guy. There is certainly value to be had in Al-only formats and even deeper leagues but this is not a run-to-the-wire promotion.
