2018 FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: FATE OF GARY SANCHEZ HEALTH TO BE DETERMINED SATURDAY AFTER SUFFERING A CALF INJURY

Outside of the dreaded oblique injury, no other malady brings so much angst to both the player and the fantasy baseball owners of such a player as a calf strain.  While it sounds simple enough, a calf injury is particularly debilitating for a hitter in that the legs are used to drive into the pitch and gain power.  Any sort of issue there is almost always a DL situation and so that is what is now facing New York Yankees All-Star catcher Gary Sanchez who suffered an injury there Friday night during the 14th inning of the team's game versus the Baltimore Orioles.  Sanchez had to leave during Adam Jones' at-bat which perhaps speaks to how serious the issue was but at the same time, it very well could be a cramp given the length of the game and how long Sanchez was out there.  Yankees manager Aaron Boone seemed to hint as much after the game but of course, an MRI is likely going to be done to determine if there, in fact, a problem.  Leading into the injury, Sanchez was really struggling as he is now hitting a pathetic 0.63 with a single home run this season which certainly were not the results his owners expected after using a second-round pick on him this past spring.  Stay tuned on this and expect an update this afternoon.
