2018 FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: ELVIS ANDRUS COULD MISS 2 MONTH WITH FRACTURED ELBOW

While the Texas Rangers have yet to make anything official as they continue to order tests for Thursday, All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus is likely to be out for up to two months due to the fractured elbow he suffered when hit by a 97-mph fastball Wednesday night.  Andrus crumpled right to the ground in massive pain after the hit and it was no shock a break was discovered given the force of the hit.  While shortstop has become deeper the last few seasons in fantasy baseball, Andrus has remained one of the more dependable players at the position the last five years or so and he comes off his best-ever campaign in 2017 when he hit .297 with a career-best 20 home runs and 25 steals.  While the home run total was in outlier territory, Andrus at the very least was a .300-hitting speedster who could score 90 runs and swipe 25 bags bar none and now he is looking at quite a bit of time in the pine.  Stashing Andrus in all leagues is the way to go but in shallower formats this may be tougher to do given the expected long absence.  For now, start looking at possible replacements; with Arizona's Ketel Marte being likely the best option you may find on the wire.  Either way, this is yet another big injury hit in a season already filled with losses related to health all over the game.
