2018 FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSING TIME: COREY KNEBEL DOWN AT LEAST 6 WEEKS WITH HAMSTRING TEAR, LIKELY LONGER

Updating an earlier item, Milwaukee Brewers All-Star closer Corey Knebel is out at least six weeks and maybe as many as 10 due to the serious hamstring injury he suffered during his outing for the team on Thursday evening.  While the Brewers have not said it Knebel tore the hamstring or just suffered a Grade 3 strain, the fact they are suggesting six weeks at minimum likely means it was torn.  By the looks of the way he went down last night, that would be a good guesstimate.  Even if it were a Grade 3 strain, Knebel is out until at least June which really bestows some massive value on whoever steps into the gig while he is on the disabled list.  The candidates for that assignment include Matt Alberts, Josh Hader, and Jacob Barnes; with reports that each of them will get it circulating all over the place.  If I had one spot to use it on (and this is a total guess), I would go Barnes since Hader is a lefty and has the Andrew Miller-Archie Bradley value of being able to work multiple setup frames in the heat of a game.  I had said initially on Twitter that Hader would be the guy but the more I thought of it, the more Barnes made more sense on paper.  Of course, I and many others may be completely off and eighth-inning guy Albers could get it so this is something which needs to be watched closely tonight or tomorrow.
