2018 FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSING TIME: BLAKE PARKER LOOKS LIKE CLOSER ON THE BRINK

Already.  How can we possibly do a piece on a closer who may lose his job after just two appearances and with the season just four days old?  Well if you are the Los Angeles Angels' Blake Parker, it makes total sense.  The 2017 closing revelation has been nothing short of disastrous this season, having given up runs in both of his 2018 appearances; with the latest being removed after one run in and just one out achieved Sunday versus the Oakland A's.  What needs to be said is that Parker has been getting pounded for awhile, going back to the start of spring training.  For the slate of exhibition games, Parker logged hideous ratios all the way through and it got to the point that Fanrags' Jon Heyman opined that Cam Bedrosian would go into the season as the stopper.  While that did not happen, you have to wonder if Parker will not get the next save chance and instead, focus needs to go on Bedrosian and Kenyan Middleton who came on to get the last two outs relieving Parker to get his first save Sunday.  With Bedrosian pretty well known in the fantasy baseball community, Middleton is the new name on the closing block.  He was solid during his 2017 rookie year for the team in logging a 3.86 ERA but his 1.34 WHIP was scary and centered on a very high 60 hits in 58.1 frames.  Middleton does have the strikeout thing down pat (63 K's in those 58.1 innings) but you have to think Bedrosian would be the choice given his past experience as a closer.  Either way, Parker is in trouble and this is a situation which needs to be watched closely this week.
