2018 FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSING TIME: A.J. HINCH SHOWING NO CONFIDENCE IN KEN GILES, COMMITTEE COULD BE ON TAP

Despite not having pitched since April 9th, a message was sent by Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch late Friday night when he chose to go with ace setup man Chris Devenski to close out the Texas Rangers over de facto stopper Ken Giles.  Devenski got the job done by striking out striking out the side in the 3-2 win and right away the reverberations were felt throughout the fantasy baseball community given what transpired.  Clearly this was Hinch showing his lack of tolerance for Giles' maddening struggles which have him sitting with a 4.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP going into Saturday's action.  What has become beyond infuriating here is the fact Giles is blessed with an overpowering 100-mph fastball but yet his closing gig is in trouble almost every season given the fact he simply gives up too many hits and walks to be dependable.  This season has been no different and Hinch is not going to allow a World Series defending team sink due to their struggling closer.  So at the very least we have a committee going on with Giles handling righties in the ninth and Devenski the lefties.  Then there is Brad Peacock who already has a save himself and who also has closer-type strikeout stuff.  Keep a close eye here as this looks to be a fluid situation that could change quickly.
