According to MLB's Pedro Moura, Los Angeles Angels pitcher/outfielder Shohei Otani will likely garner between just 23-25 starts during the course of the 2018 season due to the team using a six-man rotation and also due to keeping an eye on the number of innings the Japanse import will throw.
Analysis: I started saying weeks ago that Otani is quite overpriced as most hyped Japanse imports are but he will fall quite short of a typical innings workload from a standard MLB starter. This is very crucial when it comes to investing in the pitching version of Otani since he is on average going in the seventh round of early fantasy baseball drafts which seems quite high given the workload anticipated. In addition, Otani the hitter is not looking like a great investment either since he will only start about 3-4 games a week and so his counting stats will be negatively impacted as well.
