2018 FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSERS I WILL TARGET

The closers are up last as we finish our latest yearly feature where I share the hitters/pitchers I will target at each position.  As always, closers should never be high on your priority list as they go bust about half the time in terms of who breaks spring training with the role by the end of the season.  Also, closers only really impact one category (saves) and so spending a high pick there while everyone else is loading up on multiple-category guys in the same round.

CLOSERS I WILL TARGET

Raisel Iglesias:  Iglesias had a seamless transition into the closer role last season for the Cincinnati Reds and while he could be dealt at some point during the year, his high-K/low-ERA stuff makes him a very good fantasy baseball since he is still a bit off the radar.

Cody Allen:  I think the presence of Andrew Miller always unfairly strips some value out of Allen who has a typical season of near 100 K's and a below-3.00 ERA.

Brad Hand:  I already did a stand-alone feature regarding my obsession with Brad Hand this season and that is even more so now that he has a new contract extension for 2018 and thus won't be traded.

Archie Bradley:  This guy should finally get a shot to close in Arizona and he could very well be the latest failed starter to make it big as a ninth-inning man.

Mark Melancon:  Yes the fastball has dipped and Melancon is not a big strikeout guy but his ADP will slip so far this spring that he could be end up being a swell value if he finds some health.

Brandon Morrows:  I am not sure how long Morrow will stay healthy but the closer gig in Chicago with the Cubs is always a nice fantasy baseball landing spot.
