The starting pitchers are up next as we are almost done with out initial look at the 2018 fantasy baseball position rankings.  Let's see who made the top 30 from this group.

1.  Chris Sale

11. Jacob DeGrom

28. Marcus Stroman
29. Gerrit Cole
30. Lance McCullers

-I think the reflexive habit by most in the fantasy baseball community is to put Clayton Kershaw as the number 1 guy but honestly it needs to be Chris Sale.  Sale had a ridiculous 2017 performance and the fact it came in the AL East adds extra respect to his otherworldly numbers.  In addition, Sale has durability that Kershaw does not; with the latter now having spent lengthy stints on the DL each of the last two years.
-Jon Lester looks like he is pretty toasted right now as his velocity sagged last season and his numbers crashed as a result.  This is no shock as Lester has had some insane workloads on his aging arm the last few years and I for one would suggest moving on from here.
-Two of my favorites are cemented in the top ten in Carlos Carrasco and Aaron Nola.  Both have been big recommended sleepers from this space the last few seasons and the talent fully bubbled to the surface in 2018.  Outside of injuries, nothing should hold them back from ace status.
-I for one will begin looking for my first starter from DeGrom downward.  Each season I continue to stay true to my vow not to spend a very high pick on a starter and instead like to wait until Round 5 to snag my ace.
-If Gerrit Cole does in fact get traded to the New York Yankees, his fantasy baseball outlook will dip as he goes from the easier NL into the rough AL.
