2018 FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: LORENZO CAIN SIGNING WITH THE BREWERS

Just an hour after trading for Miami Marlins emerging star outfielder Christian Yelich, the team also reportedly is in agreement with free-agent outfielder Lorenzo Cain according to Fox' Ken Rosenthal.  The move is a strange one in that the arrival of Yelich gave the Brewers two impactful and young five-tool outfielders (along with Santana) but the arrival of Cain will almost certainly result in the latter being moves.  Trade rumors have swirled around Santana all offseason and the Brewers will now turn their attention to dealing him away for pitching.  As far as Cain is concerned, he remains a very good low-end outfielder 2/top outfielder 3 in terms of fantasy baseball.  Cain comes off a 2017 campaign where hit put up the following numbers:

.300
15 HR
49 RBI
86 R
26 SB

Cain will be 32 in April and that is a scary age for speed-centric guys like him.  Based on the 26 steals last season however, Cain is still running at a high rate and could yield another quiet five-category season.  In terms of the five category contribution however, Cain does it without blowing up any one category.  His move to Milwaukee would add a few homers and RBI however and so this is a good move for his overall fantasy baseball value.  At least for 2018, I will be buying.
