As predicted, Geno Smith failed to impress in his first start with the New York Giants Sunday afternoon as the team went down to the Oakland Raiders. While Smith did throw a TD pass, he lost two fumbled, and seemed as hesitant as ever in the pocket. This all spelled doom for emerging Giants wideout Sterling Shepard who caught just three passes 56 yards in a no-show outing for him in terms of fantasy football. The hope now for all Shepard fans is that Giants head coach Ben McAdoo gets fired Monday as is rumored and the new coach (be it Mike Sullivan or more likely Steve Spagnuolo) goes back to Eli Manning for Week 14. With Giants management having been deservedly pilloried over benching Manning, having him come back out to start Week 14 at home versus the hated Dallas Cowboys would create a nice scene where the two-time Super Bowl winner would be wildly cheered back in front of the home fans. In addition, Shepard would go back to being a solid WR 2 with Manning back in the fold which helps his fantasy football owners as well. It should be an interesting day in Giants Land to say the least.
