It has been a long and arduous struggle but yours truly has made it back to the Experts League finals in our fantasy football PPR league. I say struggle due to the fact my 4-0 start under the glorious Aaron Rodgers soon became 5 losses in 6 weeks when he was lost to a broken collarbone. A ridiculous buy low trade of Ty Montgomery for Ben Roethlisberger in Week 5 (when the latter was really struggling) ultimately saved my bacon and so here I am in the finals with a healthy Rodgers back as well. It was Rodgers who I went with yesterday over Big Ben despite how insanely hot the latter has been and I was rewarded with 3 TD's and nearly 30 fantasy football points. While Ben was equally excellent, I had a pretty easy go of it in moving to the finals. Unfortunately I run into a team that scored over 200 points (which has only happened one other time in the history of the league) in the finals and it was the same team that beat him in the ultimate game last year as well. My opponent has coasted this year with a monster three-headed running back attack of Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, and Kareem Hunt and luckily we don't play a FLEX or else I would have no chance. Be that as it may, here is how the final may stack up given the likely roster decisions.
MY TEAM HIS TEAM
QB Aaron Rodgers Matthew Stafford
RB Le'Veon Bell Todd Gurley
RB Duke Johnson Kareem Hunt
WR Dez Bryant Michael Thomas
WR Mike Evans Josh Gordon
WR Marquis Goodwin Jarvis Landry
TE Zach Ertz Travis Kelce
K Harrison Butker Robbie Gould
DEF San Diego Minnesota
BENCH
Sterling Shepard Marvin Jones
Theo Riddick Melvin Gordon
Mike Davis James White
Ben Roethlisberger Bilal Powell
Jack Doyle Will Fuller V
I am under no illusion that I am the favorite as he has a MAJOR advantage at RB 2 and I would take two of his wideouts (Thomas, Landry) before I took any of mine in a draft. Also my big tight end advantage in Ertz over the majority of the league is nullified here since he has the equally dominant Kelce. I have my work cut out for me here but I have a chance. I am likely going to bench Goodwin for Shepard this week since the 49ers wideout gets Jalen Ramsay but otherwise I am going to leave things as they were. Trading Mark Ingram for Bryant has hurt beyond repair for my RB 2 spot but them's the breaks. So do I even have a shot? What moves should I make with my roster? Post below.
