2017 FANTASY FOOTBALL END GAME: 7 TAKEAWAYS FOR 2018

Well the 2017 fantasy football season is almost completely in the books save for two Monday games (with yours truly clinging to hope down 65 points in Experts finals with Big Ben, Ertz, and Bell still to go) but already looking ahead to 2018 is tough to avoid.  With that said, here are some thoughts from one peanut stant.

1.  I want Jimmy Garoppolo on all of my teams next season.  Wow did the San Francisco 49ers roll 7's in trading for Jimmy Garoppolo.  Garoppolo has been nothing short of tremendous in leading the 49ers to a 4 straight wins and answering in the affirmative whether he can be considered a franchise QB.  The accuracy is staggeringly great here and Garoppolo being able to operate in a Kyle Shanahan passing offense is fantasy football gold.  I already wrote about how I think firmly Garoppolo will do a Carson Wentz 2017 next season and I for one am all-in here.

2.  Todd Gurley is the top pick for 2018 everywhere.  Stating the obvious, Gurley was downright ridiculous this season and scoring over 40 fantasy football points each of the last two weeks will go down in the annals of the greatest stretch of performance ever in the fake game.  Gurley's amazing season really shows how horrible a coach Jeff Fisher was as he couldn't figure out how to win with such a superb talent.  Excellent both in running and catching the football, Gurley is the easy call to go number 1 next season in drafts.

3.  Julio Jones is going in the overrated bin.  Yeah Jones is becoming insanely frustrating to own; from his lack of scores (just 3 this season) to his penchant for getting injured in every part of his body.  The drama is always high here as Jones seems to be questionable every week and he has fallen sharply behind Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, and yes Odell Beckham Jr. for next season.

4.  QB depth makes drafting a QB early extremely foolish for 2018.  The emergence of Garoppolo, Wentz, Blake Bortles, and the arrival with hype Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold will increase the depth at QB even more for 2018.  If you play in a single-passer league, waiting until the middle rounds to snag your starter is the way to go as guys like those listed above and Matthew Stafford, Philip Rivers, and Kirk Cousins also coming cheaper than they should.

5.  Typical first rounds should include the following players next season:  Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr., Michael Thomas, Todd Gurley, Kareem Hunt, Melvin Gordon, Le'Veon Bell, Julio Jones, LeSean McCoy, Alvin Kamara, Aaron Rodgers

6.  Mike Evans can be salvaged but Dez Bryant can't.  Wow both Evans and Bryant went bust in a major way this season but at least Evans finished strongly.  Bryant meanwhile bombed out in Week 16 with just 3 catches, a lost fumble, and endless complaining.  Watching Bryant this season, it was clear he can't get the separation he once did and his speed is not what is was previously either.  Move on.

7.  Finally, Alvin Kamara is every bit worth a first round pick next season.  Memories of Marshall Faulk spring to mind when watching Kamara both running and catching the football and he is well-deserving of being a first round pick next season despite the presence of Mark Ingram to steal some of the work.
