2017 FANTASY BASEBALL HOT STOVE TRADE FALLOUT: DEE GORDON FIRST MARLIN DOMINO TO FALL

While the trade talks concerning Miami Marlins slugging outfielder Giancarlo Stanton have dominated the early portion of the Hot Stove season, the team also had made it widely known that former All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon was available as well.  Having re-established himself as a top-notch performer at second base after a PED bust in 2016, Gordon was dealt to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday and the catch is that he will be moved to centerfield since Robinson Cano is entrenched at second.  For Gordon, this is excellent news on the fantasy baseball front as he will now take his 60-steals, 90 runs scored, and .280 average to the outfield where new eligibility there will join his already established second base post.  That pushes Gordon's value even higher and remaining in a prime pitcher'as park with big outfield dimensions will help his average as well given his line-drive approach.  Getting back to the numbers, Gordon was very good in 2017 as he batted .308 with 114 runs scored and a whopping 60 stolen bases.  He has now batted .300 or better in two of the last three seasons; while also going for 58 or more steals in each of the last three years.  While Gordon has almost literally no power (all of 2 home runs in 695 at-bats a year ago), he is a supreme three-category monster at second and now the outfield.  A third round price tag fits.
