The waiver wire battle leading up to Week 5 in fantasy football figures to be extremely fierce when it comes in particular to the running back fraternity. With big-time injuries taking down Dalvin Cook and Chris Carson; plus Ty Montgomery likely sitting out at least one game with fractured ribs, the running back replacements are all going to be fought over heavily leading into the waiver picks tomorrow. Getting back to Montgomery, reports have been all over the maps regarding how severe Montgomery's ribs are and if in fact he will miss Week 5. It appears as though the Packers are leaning toward sitting Montgomery out and so the rookie Aaron Jones out of UTEP becomes a major person of interest. Coming into the year as the third-string back, Jones moves into a possible role given the fact second-stringer Jamaal Williams is likely out for Week 5 with a bum knee. So Jones will get his chance and it needs to be noted that he was a dual-threat player at UTEP in terms of helping both in the running and receiving game. Last season with UTEP, Jones rushed for 1,773 yards and also hauled in 28 passes. With bellcow work expected if Montgomery is out, Jones should be the top running back add behind Latavius Murray.
