The New York Giants updated the all-important Friday injury report early in the afternoon and the most pressing fantasy football topic at the moment centers on the fact that starting running back Paul Perkins will miss Week 5 with the rib problem that surfaced in last week's game. Already ineffective running the ball, Perkins can safely be dropped in most fantasy football leagues and the fallout here is that intriguing rookie Wayne Gallman gets a prime chance to build on his encouraging debut last Sunday. While Gallman didn't light the world on fire, he did managed to produce 50 yards and a score on 13 total touches and going back to college was a weapon both running and catching the football. Meanwhile the San Diego Chargers come for a visit and bring their annually poor run defense with them which makes Gallman even more interesting for Week 5. At the very least Gallman is a decent FLEX option but in PPR formats he can make it as a low-end RB 2. I said prior to last week's game that Gallman was worth adding given the fact nobody has been able to run the football on the Giants and last week's debut showed the kid has some interesting and useful fantasy skills. If somehow Gallman is still out there on waivers, go get him right this minute.
