Fantasy football Week 1 officially kicks off tomorrow but it is looking more and more like ace New York Giants wideout Odell Beckham Jr. won't be involved with the festivities due to a nagging ankle sprain. Once again Beckham did not practice with the team Wednesday and while meeting with reporters afterward, spoke of being "hopeful" to play. The fact that Beckham did not seem confident of being ready is already a red flag and the fact he has just two practices left this week to get back onto the field means he is running out of time for Sunday night. Of course the worst case scenario is that Beckham would be a dreaded game-time decision which would really put his fantasy football owners in a bind given the Sunday night start. In that scenario, it would be impossible to start Beckham due to it being a colossal gamble and you always want to give your fantasy football team the best chance to get off to a quick 1-0 start as possible. Keep in mind that initial whispers were that Beckham could be in danger of missing "multiple" weeks of the regular season due to the ankle and now we are seeing how that report was not as outlandish as it first seemed. On the flip side, those who own shares in Brandon Marshall are hoping Beckham does sit out in this dog-eat-dog world of fantasy football as he would see a ton of targets as the top wideout from QB Eli Manning and so the ramifications are sizable here. Stay tuned.
