While it was the worst-kept secret in all of fantasy football, the Indianapolis Colts finally announced on Monday that Scott Tolzien will start for the team in Week 1 over Andrew Luck against the Los Angeles Rams. Since the start of training camp, it became quite apparent that Luck would be completely ready in making his way back from offseason shoulder surgery to take the call in Week 1 and there were even rumors he would be placed on PUP to begin the year which would cost him the first six games. Luckily for those who bought low on Luck, he was removed from PUP on Sunday as the Colts now anticipate him missing just a 1 game or two. In the meantime it will be Tolzien going against a stout Rams defense that knows how to get after the passer and if available, picking up that defensive unit for Week 1 in fantasy football is an excellent idea. However those who own stock in big-play wideout T.Y. Hilton are in trouble for Week 1 as Tolzien won't be able to get it deep for completions down the field. That will neuter Hilton's possible fantasy football impact and even benching him outright if you have a deep receiver corps is not the worst idea in the world. Slot man Donte Moncrief could have a decent day catching check-downs, as could tight end Jack Doyle as well however. The bottom line here now is the wait begins to see how long Luck will be out, with no clear signs yet when the return will be.
