I warned you. Those who read our 2017 Fantasy Sports Boss Fantasy Football Draft Guide or saw my numerous posts during the course of the summer knew full well that Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy was firmly on my DO NOT DRAFT/BUST lists. While I have all the respect in the world for McCoy's career, I wanted no part of him in drafts for numerous reasons despite the Bills coaching staff vowing to give him a very high workload. The biggest issue of course was the fact that McCoy was 29 and thus very close to the scary age of 30 where most backs tend to decline and quite sharply I might add. Also I was afraid of McCoy not being able to hold up physically under such an expected heavy workload given his smallish frame and of course age.
Fast forward to present day and McCoy just came off a second straight game where he did nothing on the ground in rushing for 21 yards on 14 carries versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. This after McCoy picked up only 9 yards on 12 carries against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. While McCoy did go for 110 yards in the opener against the New York Jets, it has all been downhill from there to say the least and already McCoy is nicked up with wrist and groin problems. Clearly McCoy is struggling to run the football and that is a big problem for those who own him in standard leagues. Mike Tolbert has played well behind McCoy and is a big goal-line threat as well. In PPR formats McCoy has managed to catch 18 passes to help keep his stock afloat but he is nothing but a RB 2 right now given the lack of rushing numbers. Of course many will say McCoy is too talented to struggle like this and that is true. However there is an increased risk of injury every week moving forward and so McCoy is a red flag on this alone. Throw in the running problems and so far 2017 is going bust. Like I said it would.
