2017 FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: J.P. CRAWFORD SS PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Well better late then never.  That has to be the feeling for those who have been beyond patient waiting for the Philadelphia Phillies to promote former top shortstop prospect J.P. Crawford who officially got the call late Monday.  The team's former 2014 first round pick (14th overall), Crawford has been more of a name than anything he has produced at the dish in the minor leagues; going into his promotion with a listless .242 average at Triple-A (this after hitting just .244 there in 2016).  As ugly as the average is, Crawford has hit over .280 since July and he has 12 home runs and 5 steals while playing excellent defense.  The fact of the matter however is that Crawford has failed to develop as of yet into the stud offensive player the Phillies envisioned him to be when the drafted him at such a lofty spot.  Now at the age of just 22, Crawford still has plenty of time to come out of his minor league slump and begin to showcase the talent like we are now finally seeing out of Minnesota's Byron Buxton. However there is no need to chase Crawford in anything but NL-only leagues at this point as he is still rough around the edges from a fantasy baseball sense.
