2017 FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: A.J. GREEN WR CINCINNATI BENGALS

When it comes to fantasy football and the Cincinnati Bengals, almost the entire allotment of attention thus far in training camp has centered on the three-headed fraternity of running backs on the team that are all jockeying for meaningful roles on the offense in 2017.  Already we have gotten reports that rookie Joe Mixon would be the starter on Thursday, followed by a Friday piece that said it would be Jeremy Hill.  Plus Gio Bernard is still around as a pass-catching dynamo to further complicate matters.  What is not very complicated however is the ace WR 1 status of A.J. Green who once again goes into the fantasy football season as a top five option at the position.  What is interesting is that Green is being overshadowed a bit by Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham, Mike Evans, and Julio Jones but Green remains every bit as good as those guys and could have another monster year as the clear top target of QB Andy Dalton.

Now some of the reason Green's name might be a bit muted so far this summer is the fact he is coming off a 2016 where he was having a career season with his numbers across the board but had to finish on IR due to injury.  It marked the second time in three years Green missed time to injury but at the age of 29, he is still in his prime and we are not ready to call him susceptible to health trouble just yet.  Instead we need to embrace the perennial 1,000-plus yards and 80-plus catches for 8-10 touchdowns that Green puts forth on a yearly basis and his slightly depressed ADP will only help in the matter.

Again Green was on pace for a career-season in 2016 before he got hurt, with 66 catches in just 10 games for 964 yards and 4 scores.  With Marvin Jones in Detroit and Mohammad Sanu in Atlanta, Green should be the a major target hog this season and a run at 100 catches is entirely possible.  Count yours truly as a big Green fan who is still smack in his prime and who should once again be money well spent.

2017 PROJECTION:  89 catches 1,298 yards 9 TD
