The Miami Dolphins signed Jay Cutler to join prospective starter Matt Moore on Sunday, clear evidence that Ryan Tannehill is done for 2017 due to the partially torn ACL in his knee that the tean confirmed during the day. The loss of Tannehill alters the offensive plans for the Dolphins a bit but not too much given that head coach Adam Gase has made it no secret his desire to be very run-heavy. This should now be especially the case with Tannehill out of commission as he won't be used on rollouts or bootlegs like in the past and given the stationary nature of Moore or Cutler, mean Ajayi will get even more work. Already a rare workhorse back who is expected to get a massive workload, Ajayi looks like a swell late first round or early second round pick. The flip side here is that WR Jarvis Landry and to a lesser extent DeVante Parker are going to see their stocks take a bit of a hit. It will likely be very tough for Landry to catch 100 passes again and that is the mark he needs to hit to retain his optimal value since he is not a big TD guy. Thus Landry should be dropped to even WR 2 status in PPR formats. So while Tannehill's absence is not a gigantic fantasy football storyline, it does impact those around him one way or the other.
