2017 FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: INTERCOSTAL STRAIN TO FELL SALVADOR PEREZ FOR 4 WEEKS

With the fantasy baseball season heading into the stretch run, the fantasy baseball owners of Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez are now facing an extended absence from their All-Star.  Having been diagnosed with an intercostal strain which is expected to keep him out for a month, Perez is a sizable loss considering the fact he arguably has been the most effective offensive player at the always shallow catcher spot in 2017 fantasy baseball.  Going into the injury, Perez was hitting .278 with 21 home runs and 65 RBI which are tremendous numbers for the position and so his loss is quite significant.  The good news is that Perez should be back sometime in September when fantasy baseball leagues are decided.  Until then however, a stopgap alternative such as Manny Pina or Tyler Flowers are replacement options.
