2017 FANTASY BASEBALL TRADE DEADLINE REPORT: YANKS HEAVILY IN ON BRAD HAND

By Michael Wong

The New York Yankees are going all-in to try and at the very least claim an AL wild card berth, having done due diligence on San Diego Padres power setup man Brad Hand.  The talks have gotten past the exploratory stages as San Diego scouts have been fixtures at Yankee minor league games.  The Yanks have been asked about shortstop prospect Jorge Mateo but they won't bite there for Hand.  Mateo could be involved though in talks for Miami Marlins slugger Justin Bour however but nothing imminent is at work there as the Yanks want more for him.

-Given how poorly Kansas City Royals closer Kelvin Herrera has pitched this season, the market has cooled considerably there.  Joakim Soria could be moved by the Royals are still not ready to tear it down yet as they remain within shouting distance of contention.

-The New York Mets want to hold onto lefty reliever Jerry Blevins but are listening on virtually everyone else which includes Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson, Addison Reed, Neil Walker, and Asdrubal Cabrera.  The Mets are thinking of picking up Cabrera's option year though and moving him to second base so top shortstop prospect Amed Rosario could have a veteran to help him out is part of a possible plan.

-Still nothing concrete brewing with the Chicago White Sox and the Washington Nats on closer David Robertson.  The Nats took a beating publicly for their trade of Adam Eaton between the two and they are trying to make sure they get fair value in any prospective deal.  Meanwhile Raisel Iglesias could be a fallback option and a very good performing one as well.
