2017 FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: DEREK FISHER OUTFIELDER HOUSTON ASTROS

While it the lack of starting pitching depth has become quite a problem for the Houston Astros and their injury-ravaged rotation this season, the reputation of their farm system having the most potent collection of prospect hitters in the game was bolstered again Wednesday when the team announced the promotion of outfielder Derek Fisher.  The third overall pick in the 2014 draft, Fisher has had an insane start to his Triple-A season by going into his arrival with the Astros with a scorching .335 average to go with 16 home runs and 13 stolen bases.  The epitome of a five-tool outfielder, that kind of production by Fisher would instantly put him in top tier status if he can bring that to the major leagues.  Needless to say, Fisher is to be picked up in all formats as he can hit and run his way to an everyday gig even when Josh Reedick returns to action.

Digging into the numbers a bit, it is easy to see why Fisher is such a talent.  Already he is walking at a high clip (9.1 BB/9) which speaks to the potency of his batting eye and Fisher is also not striking out a whole bunch (19.3 K/9) which will protect his average at the major league level.  With burgeoning power that has taken off this season and with the ability to run, Fisher will fit right on on an aggressive Houston team that likes to wreak havoc on the bases and collect homers,  This could very well be the start of something big as I am as high on Fisher as any hitting prospect in baseball.
