Coming into the 2017 fantasy baseball season, yours truly told you all to try and avoid Detroit Tigers second-year pitcher Michael Fulmer. While he was coming off a terrific rookie campaign the year prior where he pitched to a 3.06 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 7.47 K/9; I pointed out how Fulmer was lucky to achieve the ERA he did due to a very lucky .268 BABIP and for that mediocre K/9 rate which is extra troubling in the AL. Well look at here, Fulmer has been diagnosed with shoulder bursitis and currently has seen his ERA rise to 3.40, his WHIP to 1.16, and his K/9 sink to BELOW average levels at 6.81. Fulmer losing the strikeouts is perhaps the most negative issue he is having outside of the injury and he has gone along with the idea I had about how overpriced he guy was this past spring. While Fulmer has skills, he profiles more as a firm SP 3 then the 2 or even low-end ace some said was possible.
