While no oblique strain is ever minor, it appears as though Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis suffered a more serious version of this beyond frustrating ailment on Monday. Manager Buck Showalter hinted at much after the team's game and Davis will certainly be placed on the DL Tuesday afternoon. Now the question is how long Davis will be out and since oblique strain are almost always at least two week deals, a serious strain like Showalter is hinting at could mean a month of lost action. In addition, a team source reportedly said it was a "serious" injury. While I personally have never been a fan of Davis given his annually awful batting average taking shine away from his always potent home run totals, the guy has made an impact once again in 2017 with 14 home runs in 217 at-bats. Of course the .226 average is garbage but that is what you have to accept going in when owning Davis. At the very least, be prepared for no Davis for quite awhile.
