Well that was a surprise. What is not up for debate is that the Pittsburgh Pirates will move away from the struggling Tony Watson when it comes to closing games. What is up for debate is who will close in Watson's place as the fantasy baseball community was thrown a curveball on Thursday when reports indicated that Clint Hurdle could turn to setup man Juan Nicasio and not the assumed Felipe Rivero to inherit the gig. Rivero has been unhittable all season with an ERA of 0.58 and 0.74 WHIP but the Pirates may be thinking of trying to keep the price down on him going into the arbitration years. Meanwhile Nicasio has had a big year himself in pitching to a 1.35 ERA and striking out 25 batters in 26.2 innings which are pretty much on par for a closer arm. Obviously both Rivero and Nicasio should be picked up in all fantasy baseball leagues until we get more clarity on this but either way, Watson is finished as the closer.
