2017 FANTASY BASEBALL STATUS REPORT: CHRIS TAYLOR 2B LOS ANGELES DODGERS

One team's garbage can often be another's treasure both in real and in fantasy baseball.  While in the fantasy baseball world, we often pick up players discarded from previous impatient owners and then rejoice when they turn out to be a contributor, in real-life baseball this phenomenon takes place as well.  We can see such a situation in the injury-ravaged Los Angeles Dodgers infield as Chris Taylor has more than helped fill the void left behind by the DL stints of second baseman Logan Forsythe, third baseman Justin Turner, and first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.  Since being called up from the minors, Taylor has been a revelation for the Dodgers as he goes into Saturdays action with 5 home runs, 16 runs scored, 16 RBI, and a .346 batting average.  Serving as both a help for the Dodgers and those who picked him up in fantasy baseball, Taylor has carved out daily duty that will continue even when Forsythe comes off the DL (he will play third base).

As far as Taylor is concerned, he began the year at Triple-A which followed an unsuccessful run with the Seattle Mariners since he was first made a fifth round pick of the team back in 2012.  While Taylor showed the ability to hit .300 in the minors, he was never able to hit much of anything when the Mariners gave him a chance.  Still young however at the age of 26, Taylor is taking advantage of a fresh start with the Dodgers as we can see.  While his 24.7 K/9 rate is elevated, Taylor is drawing walks at a very high rate (16.1 BB/9) which is helping his average.  Also while he has yet to steal a single base, he has picked up 10-20 steals during a few of his minor league campaigns and he should be able to contribute here as well.  So for those who own Taylor, keep playing him on a daily basis.  Also if Taylor is available, he is more than worth a pickup.
