With May now having arrived, it is prime season for the top pitching and hitting prospects around baseball to be promoted by their parents clubs. Already we have seen some big names get the call the last few weeks but it looks like one of the biggest is set to join them. We are talking about Chicago Cubs infield prospect Ian Happ who by most accounts is a top five overall prospect in Major League Baseball and who could be recalled as soon as later today given the insane amount of injuries tearing apart the big league team's roster. Happ certainly looks ready for the call as he has scorched Triple-A pitching all season so far to the tune of a .298 average with 9 home runs and 25 RBI. Just 22-years-old, Happ was originally the 9th overall pick of the team in the 2015 draft and so the pedigree is sky-high. With a 9.5 BB/9 rate at Triple-A so far, Happ is showing uncanny patience for a young hitter and his power profiles to the 25 homer range already. Think Corey Seager here in terms of the complete package as a young middle infielder but Happ can steal a base or two unlike his counterpart on the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pick up Happ wherever he is available as he truly is a run to the wire prospect.
