The Houston Astros placed ace SP Dallas Keuchel on the 10-day DL on Saturday, at least temporarily putting a hold on what was shaping up as one of the more dominant pitching performances of the season. The issue for Keuchel is a pinched nerve in his neck but the Astros think he will miss just the one start. In fact the 10-day DL is being fully taken advantage of here as I think the team would have kept him active if it was a 15-day limit given the minor nature of the injury. Prior to getting hurt, Keuchel was looking like the ace he performed like in 2015 as he registered a 1.84 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 54 K's in 63.2 innings. Of course it needs to be said that Keuchel's .215 BABIP is very lucky and his adjusted ERA's of 3.27 (FIP) and 2.87 (XFIP) tell a bit of a different but still very solid story. Overall this is not a major deal here as Keuchel should be fine when the stint is through.
