2017 FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSING TIME: JEURYS FAMILIA (BLOOD CLOT) PLACED ON DL, SHAWN KELLY MAKES RETURN

As always, the closer news is flowing fast and furious on this Friday.

-The New York Mets as expected placed closer Jeurys Familia on the 10-day DL Friday due to the recently discovered blood clot in his pitching shoulder and so Addison Reed is back as the team's ninth inning man.  Familia is likely going to need surgery on the clot and that would knock him out for the entire 2017 season and serve as a major blow to his fantasy baseball owners who already had to wait out a 15-game suspension to begin the year.  Reed has the potential to be quite good as a closer and he has experience there with the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks.

-Meanwhile the Washington Nationals welcomed back Shawn Kelly from the DL Friday and it was just in time as the team's bullpen has imploded over the past week.  Kelly should go right back to closing for the Nats as he was the only one doing an even decent job there for the team but keep an eye on Kodi Glover who also was activated from the DL as well.  Glover has been an intriguing arm for manager Dusty Baker and so we can't discount that he will be a factor if Kelly stumbles right out of the gate.
