Seattle Mariners breakout pitcher James Paxton was placed on the 10-day DL Friday with a dreaded forearm strain. Having been arguably one of the most dominant pitchers in fantasy baseball this season (1.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 45 K's in 37.2 innings), Paxton's loss is a big one for his fantasy baseball owners. The one knock on Paxton the previous three years as he fought inconsistency was his penchant for arm injuries and now that issues moves right to the forefront again. Anything to do with the forearm is a very scary situation as it often can lead to Tommy John surgery and Paxton fits the profile of someone who is a classic victim in terms of being young and someone who throws hard. Right now you can forget about seeing Paxton in May as this will be a long DL stint.
