Another day and another batch of ominous news for New York Mets lefty Steven Matz. An initial diagnosis of elbow irritation has now been replaced with the scary "flexor strain" and the team is now preparing to be without him until June. Matz has been shut down for at least three weeks and then will likely need another 2-3 weeks to get himself ready to go. Mets manager Terry Collins however sounded very worried about the overall outlook on Matz and keep in mind flexor strain often lead to eventual Tommy John surgery. Those who drafted the injury-prone Matz have been down this road before but now it looks like only four months of numbers may be possible here. What a disaster.
