Seattle Mariners infielder Jean Segura suffered what the team is calling a strained hamstring that forced him out of Monday's game versus the Houston Astros and he likely will be placed on the DL because of it. Segura suffered the same type of injury that sent Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner to the DL earlier in the day on Monday and the former came down with his while scooting back to first base in the third inning. Coming a big comeback year in 2016 when he hit .319 with 20 home runs and 33 stolen bases, Segura was dealt from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Mariners over the winter. He came into the game Monday with a .333 average and 3 steals already and so Segura was looking like he was going to pick up where he left off last season. If a DL stint is needed, this is a decent loss to Segura's fantasy baseball owners.
