Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has battled a calf injury for almost all of spring training and with the season just a day away, he still is not able to take part in workouts. Beltre is going to try again on Sunday but the Rangers will place him on the 10-day DL if he can't get on the field. At the age of 38, Beltre simply needs longer to heal than when he was 28 and so there is no shock by the slow pace of his recovery. Also a calf injury tends to linger as well. Overall Beltre is still hitting well and comes off a 2016 campaign where he upped his previously sliding offensive numbers. We think he can give another .300 average and 20-25 home runs so overall this is not a major deal yet.
