2017 FANTASY BASEBALL STATUS REPORT: ANDREW TRIGGS SP OAKLAND A'S

One of the more under-the-radar big performances to begin the 2017 fantasy baseball season is the current 17.2 inning stretch of scoreless frames from Oakland A's pitcher Andrew Triggs.  Triggs added to that total Tuesday night when he shut out the potent Texas Rangers in his six innings of work, yielding just 3 hits and no walks with 5 K's.  This proceeded scoreless outings of 6.0 and 5.2 innings in Triggs' first two starts that have now put his previously unknown name on the fantasy baseball map.  Digging in a bit here, Triggs is a late comer as he is already 28 and was not considered a big prospect as a former 2012 19th round pick.  The A's are the third organization for Triggs but he pitched all right in his 2016 debut when he registered a 4.31 ERA and 8.79 K/9 in 56.1 innings.

Now while Triggs' start has been very impressive, don't go crazy here by any means as his .199 current BABIP is insanely lucky for one thing.  In addition, Triggs has just 9 K' in his 17.2 innings which is a rate that won't sustain a good ERA in the American League.  Yes Triggs looks like a smoke-and-mirrors guy who will be exposed before too long given those rates and honestly he is nothing more than an SP 5 at best no matter how well the numbers look so far.  This is going to turn very bad real soon.  Just wait for the carnage.
