The Detroit Tigers see the writing on the wall when it comes to their bullpen setup, in particular at closer where fading veteran Francisco Rodriguez seems destined to give up the ninth inning under a hail of blown saves this season. With that in mind, the Tigers made a hedge move early Monday by promoting top power prospect pitcher Joe Jimenez from Triple-A Toledo and demoted the struggling Bruce Rodon. Jimenez is a strikeout machine as he showed last season by pitching to a 1.51 ERA and striking out 78 batters in just 53.2 innings between three minor league levels. It wouldn't be a shock if Jimenez is closing games by the summer and so those who own K-Rod should be adding him right away. Meanwhile those panning for future saves should absolutely take a look here as well. The kid is going to be a closer before you know it.
