Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker insisted on Wednesday that both Koda Glover and Shawn Kelly will receiver save chances for the time being until one of them emerges as the guy. Baker officially removed the struggling Blake Treinen from the role after a string of ugly outings and Kelly ultimately got the first chance bailing him out Tuesday night which turned out to be successful. The takeway from this is that Baker really wants Kelly to work in setup and that he is opening the door for Glover to take hold of it. Remember Baker talked up Glover all spring and was ready to give him the role until a late spring stumble gave the chance to Treinen. Kelly has been a tremendous setup man the last two years and it appears that is ideally where Baker wants him. The Nationals also remain in talks with the Chicago White Sox for David Robertson and a deal makes so much sense that it should eventually happen. Pick up Kelly and Glover where available and don't be surprised if the latter emerges as the stopper.
