Some moderate fantasy football news befell the tight end fraternity when the Indianapolis Colts traded tight end Dwayne Allen to the New England Patriots on Wednesday. Allen will replace Martellus Bennett who failed to supply the receiving numbers expected of him when he arrived in New England prior to last season. Allen will play second fiddle to Rob Gronkowski in the tight end receiving pecking order but we all know that Gronk can't stay on the field for long stretches. That gives Allen a very good chance of being more than a little fantasy football-worthy this season when Gronk is out but when both are on the field, he should be on your bench as a backup. Meanwhile Jack Doyle all of a sudden becomes a major sleeper for 2017 fantasy football since he now will be the main tight end in town in Indy. Doyle showed terrific receiving skills last season for the Colts and he figures to be Andrew Luck's best friend next season. Get him on your cheat sheets and move Doyle up more than a bit.
