FANTASY BASEBALL CLOSING TIME: CARTER CAPPS A MUST ADD SLEEPER AS HE GETS SET TO PITCH IN GAMES

-Rehabbing San Diego Padres prospective closer Carter Capps is set to make his spring training debut sometime in mid-March as he has had no setbacks from last season's Tommy John elbow surgery. Capps of course is a major sleeper tout of yours truly as I think he is destined to be the Padres closer in short order given the overpowering stuff that led to a ridiculously great 1.16 ERA and 58 strikeouts in just 31 innings pitched.  The only thing standing in Capp's way outside of health is Brandon Maurer who was pretty brutal at times last season and who simply doesn't have the stuff to last as a ninth inning option.  Capps should be on all late-round sleeper lists as his stuff alone could make him a top five closer just like that.

-Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker was adamant about using only one closer option for the 2016 season but stopped short of endorsing favored Shawn Kelly as the guy.  Baker made it a point to include Kelly, Blake Treinen, and Koda Glover but our money is on Kelly who is the veteran and who has had the big strikeout stuff to be a decent closer the last two seasons.  Of course the elephant in the room is the David Robertson trade rumors which are not going away and that makes sense not to have it happen.

-Jeanmar Gomez gave up a home run in his first spring outing and of course this is no shock to yours truly who thinks the Phillies are really being ridiculous in endorsing the soft-tosser for the ninth inning.  Joaquin Benoit and Hector Neris are much better options and I would draft either and not even tough Gomes in drafts this spring.
