2017 FANTASY FOOTBALL FREE AGENCY SIGNINGS: BRANDIN COOKS HEADS TO NEW ENGLAND IN BLOCKBUSTER, MICHAEL THOMAS NOW CLEAR WR 1

The never-ending train of success for the New England Patriots continued onward with no end in sight as the team made a blockbuster trade for wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the New Orleans Saints on Friday.  The Pats also acquired a 2017 fourth-round pick from the Saints and in turn dealt to New Orleans a 2017 first and third-round pick.  Cooks joins Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell, and Rob Gronkowski to give QB Tom Brady an insane amount of receiving weapons for the 2017 season and on that alone, he is right there as the top fantasy football passer on the board.  The fallout here from New Orleans' angle is that Michael Thomas now fully graduates into a clear WR 1 and Willie Snead will also see a boost as well with less competition for catches from QB Drew Brees.  Cooks was way too much up-and-down during his New Orleans tenure and thus tough to rely on from a fantasy football angle.  In New England Cooks has a bunch of competition for catches as well which means he should be graded only as a WR 2.
