2017 FANTASY BASEBALL STATUS REPORT: ZACH WHEELER MAKES LONG-AWAITED RETURN FRI.

When New York Mets righty Zach Wheeler was last on a major league mound, the calendar year read "2014."  After two completely lost years due to Tommy John elbow surgery and various setbacks, Wheeler finally made his way completely back from the procedure on Friday when he tossed two innings of one-run ball in his exhibition debut for the team.  Wheeler's fastball sat in the low 90's during the outing and when he met with reporters afterwards, claimed he was not feeling any sort of discomfort.  Of course this is just the very beginning of Wheeler ramping things up for the regular season and already the Mets have said he will be in extended spring training as Robert Gsellman takes the fifth spot in the rotation.  Still Wheeler is back on the fantasy baseball map and is worth a stab as a SP 5/6 who you will have to wait a bit on.  Keep in mind that before things went horrible wrong for him, Wheeler was considered one of the very best power pitching prospects in the game who was held back only by some shoddy control.
