2017 FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: DAVID PRICE (ELBOW) AVOIDS SURGERY

Boston Red Sox hurler David Price has avoided surgery as the second opinion of Dr. James Andrews suggested he instead be shut down for 7-10 days and then try to begin throwing again.  While no specifics have been revealed yet, that probably indicates that Price did NOT have UCL damage and instead more likely is dealing with inflammation.  This is a huge relief to those who already own Price but we are not out of the woods yet in terms of how long he could be out.  The Red Sox will be very conservative with Price moving forward and so his availability for Opening Day is very much in doubt.  The biggest thing though is that Price will not be lost for the season given this news and so he can be added back to fantasy baseball cheat sheets but at a much lower spot.
