2017 FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: JASON KIPNIS LATEST "NAME" PLAYER TO NOT BE READY FOR OPENER

Add Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis to a growing list of "name" players in fantasy baseball who will not be ready to go on Opening Day as confirmed by manager Terry Francona on Sunday,  Kipnis has been battling soreness in his right shoulder for almost all of spring training and perhaps most disturbing is that he felt more pain in the joint after serving as the team's DH on Friday.  Francona reported that Kipnis will now be shut down for the next two weeks which leaves him just days to be ready for Opening Day which will not happen.  So Kipnis will begin the season on the DL and thus leave his owners in the lurch early on.  As far as fantasy baseball is concerned, Kipnis is a guy that you either love or hate.  He has lost the 30-steal speed from his first few years in the majors but he has become a better average hitter of late with 15-20 home run power as well.  There is a decent amount to work with her and the dip in steals has made Kipnis' draft value fall into the value play range.  Alas April is not going to be a full month and if surgery is needed, May could be lost as well.
