It didn't take long for the first monumental injury of spring training when we learned early Thursday that Boston Red Sox ace David Price was leaving the team to visit with Dr. James Andrew at the NFL Combine due to a bout of elbow soreness that has the team brass very concerned. Already reports are coming out of Boston that Price has a UCL issue and if true, would possibly explain the loss of 2 mph on Price's fastball last season and the fact his K/9 rate fell and his HR/9 rate went way up. It is possible Price had a UCL issue last season but now the pain is manifesting itself which led to the Andrews visit. While Price is a bit older for a potential Tommy John patient, he does fit the profile as a very hard-thrower who also has had a ton of innings piled onto his arm starting at a young age. None of this sounds good and so prepare for the worst if you own Price already.
